Tech Tip - Phishing

What is it?:
Someone trying to 'hook' you into sharing personal information or money for a reward or prize.  Be wary of anything suspicious and don't fall for the allure of winning something.  Be aware that this can happen with your personal email or school communication.

Jordan School District will never send emails requesting any personal information, your login, name, password, contact information, password or financial transactions.  On your personal emails, social media, and other accounts you also need to be aware of scams and other phishing attempts to acquire personal information.

Ask yourself:
- Is this email asking for personal information or other unusual requests?
- Is the email offering me money or asking to send money?
- Is the email full of poor grammar and spelling?
- Does the email feel generic or vague?
- Is the email from someone unverifiable or with a suspicious address?

If any of those statements are true, you may be the bait with someone trying to phish.  Please report any activity that appears to be a scam or phishing on your school accounts to [email protected].

With your Jordan District accounts, always think before you click and contact Information Systems at Jordan District if you have doubts about the legitimacy of an email.
