RESIDENTS’ DAY 2026: TRIVIA, TRADITION, AND THE ROAD TO AMERICA250

Today, Mountain Ridge High School observes Presidents’ Day. While the day serves as a formal tribute to the individuals who have held the nation’s highest office, it is also a great opportunity to explore the unique history of the American Presidency.

From Ulysses S. Grant’s $20 speeding ticket for his horse to the fact that the White House website didn't launch until 1994, our leaders have provided a wealth of fascinating history. We celebrate the tallest (Lincoln), the shortest (Madison), and the only bachelor (Buchanan), recognizing that each leader brought a unique perspective to the growth of our democracy.

The Road to 250: This Presidents’ Day feels particularly significant as we approach July 2026, which marks the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States. As we participate in the America250 initiative, we encourage our students and faculty to reflect on the impact of leadership and our roles as citizens in the next chapter of American history.

Happy Presidents' Day to our entire Sentinel community!
