SLEEP AWARENESS WEEK: BECOME YOUR BEST SLEPT SELF

March 8–14 is Sleep Awareness Week! At Mountain Ridge, we talk a lot about working hard, but resting hard is just as important for your health and well-being. During the teenage years, your brain and body are undergoing massive transformations—and sleep is the "fuel" that makes those changes successful.

The Teen Sleep Reality: Did you know that while adults need about 7–9 hours of sleep, teens actually need 8–10 hours? Currently, only about 2 in 10 students hit that mark.

Quick Tips for Better Rest:

  • The 60-Minute Wind Down: Power down screens an hour before bed. Blue light tricks your brain into thinking it's still daytime.

  • Check Your "Clock": It is biologically normal for a teen's "body clock" to shift later. Try to keep a consistent wake-up time to help your rhythm stay in sync.

  • Vibe Check: Avoid stressful social media or "high-stakes" content right before bed. Keep the hour before sleep calm and positive.

Let’s use this week to prioritize our rest so we can show up as our best selves in the classroom and on the field!
