Mountain Ridge High School is thrilled to officially welcome two world-class athletes to our Track and Field staff: Coach Kaysha Love and Coach Hunter Powell.
Both coaches have just returned from competing on the world’s biggest stage at the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy. Their arrival brings an unprecedented level of expertise, elite mindset, and professional experience to our student-athletes.
Meet Coach Kaysha Love
Kaysha isn't just fast; she is historically fast. Before her Olympic journey, she was a standout at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where she established herself as one of the premier sprinters in the Mountain West Conference.
-
The Credentials: 2-time Olympian and 2025 World Champion.
-
The Expertise: She specializes in explosive power and sprint mechanics. As a professional bobsledder and track star, she understands the "science of the start"—teaching our athletes how to generate maximum force and maintain top-end speed.
Meet Coach Hunter Powell
Hunter brings a "Swiss Army Knife" approach to the Ridge. His background as an elite Decathlete means he has mastered the technical nuances of ten different events—from hurdles and jumps to throws and sprints.
-
The Credentials: Olympian and former standout at Colorado State University (CSU).
-
The Expertise: Hunter spent several years coaching at the Division I level for CSU, specializing in the Decathlon and multi-events. He excels at breaking down complex movements into manageable steps for young athletes.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have these professional athletes mentoring our Sentinels. Beyond their accolades, they are amazing individuals dedicated to building the next generation of champions.
Please join us in giving them a massive Sentinel welcome!
