This prestigious selection highlights Coach Birch’s holistic dedication to Mountain Ridge High School. Inside the building, Coach Birch shapes student minds every day as a math teacher. On the mat, he has built a powerhouse wrestling program, guiding the Sentinels to Back-to-Back State Championship titles over the past two seasons.
In an official letter, the UHSAA stated:
"Your selection to receive this prestigious honor is based upon the positive work that you have done with the athletes in your program. Congratulations! We are proud to submit your name to the National Federation of State High School Associations and submit you for further honors at the sectional and national levels."
Coach Birch will now represent the state of Utah in competition for NFHS Sectional and National Coach of the Year honors.
